September 30, 2013 — VPT congratulates Orbital Sciences Corporation with the successful docking of its Cygnus cargo ship to the International Space Station (ISS) yesterday. VPT proudly powers systems on the Cygnus as well as its Antares launch rocket. The unmanned Cygnus was launched to orbit on its inaugural flight on September 18th, carrying approximately 1,300 pounds (589 kilograms) of cargo, including everyday essentials, science experiments, gear, and spare parts to the International Space Station’s Expedition 37 crew. The rendezvous represents a critical milestone in space development as the second commercially developed resupply ship to successfully connect with the ISS under NASA’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services program.
