Introduction
Brandon Witcher:
Hi, I'm Brandon Witcher, Principal Design Engineer at VPT. Today, I'll be introducing a new product in our VSC Series, the VSCPL1210SG.
About the VSCPL1210SG
Brandon Witcher:
This is a highly efficient, radiation tolerant, point of load converter specifically designed for NewSpace applications. We designed the VSCPL1210SG to provide high efficiency and tight regulation while also maintaining the radiation tolerance required for LEO missions. It is designed to meet the NewSpace performance requirements while also meeting the cost constraints that define this market.
The VSCPL is offered exclusively in our gullwing package. Our proprietary packaging offers dual-sided heat sinking with very low outgassing, and the surface mount design enables streamlined solder reflow as well as simplified board integration. Key features of the VSCPL include efficiency up to 95%, output current up to 10 amps, an adjustable output voltage that ranges from 0.6 to 5 volts, and a wide input voltage range capable of 4.5 to 13.2 volt operation. Additionally, the part is designed to be able to operate over the full -55° to +105°C operating range while providing full output power.
In addition to the VSCPL1210SG, later this year we'll be releasing two additional point of load converters, the VSCPL0510SG and the VSCPL1220SG.
Conclusion
Brandon Witcher:
In summary, the VSCPL1210SG is designed specifically for operation in low Earth orbit and smaller satellites, as well as NASA Class D missions, where the balance of cost versus performance is critical. If you would like more information on the VSCPL, please contact our sales at vptpower.com.
