VPT is proud to report that it has several products built into NASA’s Mars Perseverance Rover Mission. VPT’s power conversion products include several SVR Series isolated DC-DC converters, point-of-load DC-DC converters, and EMI filters that help power the camera system and onboard processing of the MARS Rover 2020 spacecraft.

Specifically designed for applications facing the harsh radiation environments of space, the SVR Series of DC-DC converters has been characterized to Total Ionizing Dose (TID) of 100 krad(Si), including Enhanced Low Dose Rate Sensitivity (ELDRS), and Single Event Effects (SEE) performance to 85 MeV/mg/cm2. Performance is guaranteed through the use of hardened semiconductor components, radiation lot acceptance testing (RLAT) of non-hardened components, and analysis.

“VPT is proud to design and build products that help to power space exploration,” said John Hodock, President of VPT, Inc. “It is an honor to be part of NASA’s historic Mars Exploration Program that will bring more understanding about the planet.”

February 2021 Update: The Perseverance rover successfully landed on the surface of Mars. It will spend the next 687 days, or one Martian year, searching for signs of past habitability, microbial life, and water.
