VPT Adds Industrial Level VHR Series DC-DC Converter Line

BLACKSBURG, VA, June 22, 2016VPT, Inc. (VPT®), a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), today released the VHR Series of industrial level DC-DC converters and EMI filters. Available in models ranging from 5 to 100 watts, the VHR Series of DC-DC converters provides customers with VPT’s renowned levels of product reliability for powering non-flight-critical programs in military, avionics, and unmanned systems as well as manufacturing equipment and controls.

“Engineers aren’t looking for a ‘one converter fits all’ solution, so VPT supplies a wide range of high reliability standard products that best match specific application requirements,” said VP of Sales and Marketing, Monty Pyle. “Just as space programs utilize converters designed for rigid MIL specs and radiation exposure, programs on the other end of the spectrum are aligned to solutions, like the VHR Series, that are cost effective and highly reliable without requiring the extensive environmental screening that is necessary for flight-critical programs.”

The VHR Series design leverages VPT’s decades of experience in proven military, aerospace and defense solutions. For budget-driven programs, the series offers a wide input voltage range for nominal 28 volt input, an average 85% efficiency and low input and output ripple for reliable operational success, even in rugged environments.

Designed to operate at full-load over a wide temperature range of -40°C to +100°C, the VHR Series also offers fixed frequency operation, soft-start, magnetic feedback, inhibit and current-limit protection. Additionally, the VHR Series includes companion EMI filters ranging from 1 to 20 amps.

VPT Releases High Temperature Product Line

HTD Series Hybrid DC-DC Converters Designed for Extreme Environments up to 185°C

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – May 10, 2016 – VPT, Inc. (VPT®), a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), released the HTD Series of DC-DC converters at the iMAPS International Conference on High Temperature Electronics, HiTEC 2016. The HTD Series of DC-DC converters, leveraging VPT’s high reliability power supply design heritage, is specifically designed for harsh and extreme temperature environments including downhole oil and gas, MWD/LWD and wireline logging tools, aircraft engine electronics and other industrial applications requiring reliable operation in high temperatures.

The HTD isolated 1.5 Watt DC-DC converter operates from -55°C to 155°C and the HTD non-isolated DC-DC converters operate from -55°C to 185°C. Each model has dual outputs and is designed using thick film hybrid microcircuit technology, bare semiconductor die integrated with passive components and thick film conductors
on a ceramic substrate. Within the HTD design, component-attach and die bonding are optimized for high temperature life, and hermetic metal packaging protects internal components for long-term reliability.

VPT’s Director of Advanced Product Development, Steve Butler, said, “We developed these products specifically for reliable performance in settings which are both high-temperature and rugged, testing them extensively for operating life and temperature cycling over the full temperature range as well as for mechanical shock and vibration.”

VPT Adds VXR Series to Hi-Rel COTS Product Line

Wide Input Voltage Range and Advanced Packaging Technology for Superior Operation in Harsh Environments

May 5, 2015 - VPT, Inc. (VPT®), a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), launched its new VXR Series of DC-DC Converters and EMI Filters today at the annual Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) conference being held in Atlanta, Georgia. The VXR Series of DC-DC Converters and EMI Filters represent VPT’s most advanced offering of its extensive line of high-reliability COTS DC-DC Converters and accessory products. Available in models ranging from 7 to 100 Watts with an industry leading wide continuous input voltage range from 9 to 60 VDC and transient operation from 6 to 80 VDC, the VXR Series is optimized for a broad range of applications from military ground vehicles to commercial and military aircraft, including the unique power needs of unmanned aerial and ground systems.

The VXR Series utilizes VPT’s patent-pending advanced packaging technology. This proprietary encapsulation process incorporates EMI shielding and dual-sided thermal conduction. The integral epoxy encapsulated packaging is highly resistant to chemical, solvent and salt environments and is fully compatible with high-volume manufacturing processes including wave solder, cleaning solvents, high-pressure sprays and aqueous wash.

“The VXR Series of products is reliability and efficiency focused, utilizing a low-noise, fixed frequency wide input voltage range topology,” said Jeremy Ferrell, VPT’s Manager of Standard Product Engineering. “We achieved this high efficiency over a wide input voltage range with a proprietary precision-controlled synchronous rectification topology. The high efficiency design in-turn reduces the thermal management requirements. We also incorporated a proprietary control loop design that provides a fast transient response without the use of optoisolators.”  Ferrell added, “For customers with noise sensitive applications, we developed the VXR EMI Filter Series with current ratings from 2 to 20 Amps that were specifically designed to meet specific MIL-STD-461 and DO-160 conditions when used with our VXR Series DC-DC Converters.”

VPT Adds 250 Watt DC-DC Converter to Hi-Rel COTS Product Line

Epoxy Encapsulated Solution for Harsh Environments

(VPT®), a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), introduced the availability of the VPT250-2800S Series of single output 250 watt  isolated DC-DC converters to its high-reliability COTS VPT Series product line. The VPT250 is uniquely designed for the increasing power conversion needs in military vehicles, ships, weapons, and other rugged systems requiring high reliability solutions. Featuring VPT’s proprietary six-sided encapsulated package with an integral metalized EMI shield, the VPT250 Series is fully compatible with aqueous cleaning processes and is specifically intended for programs with harsh environments such as severe shock, vibration and thermal stresses.

The VPT250 features a wide input voltage range (16 to 40 Volts per MIL-STD-704 and MIL-STD-1275) and delivers 250 watts at efficiencies up to 92% from -55ºC to 100ºC. Utilizing VPT’s proven design heritage, synchronous rectification topology and thermally conductive epoxy encapsulated packaging, the VPT250 Series provides high efficiency fixed-frequency operation, low input and output ripple, and superior thermal dissipation. Additionally, the VPT250 provides parallel current-sharing capability up to 1,250 watts.

First Standard Power Converters & EMI Filters Available Compliant to MIL-HDBK-1547 & Aerospace TOR Requirements without Customization

SPACE TECH EXPO, Long Beach, CA, May 21, 2013 – Today VPT Inc., a HEICO company (NYSE:HEI.A) (NYSE:HEI), announced the availability of a new series of radiation hardened DC-DC power converters, point of load converters, and EMI filters to power space systems.

The new SVR Series of space power products includes 24 new modules in 7 product families, all based on space-proven heritage designs and available qualified to MIL-PRF-38534 Class K. These are the first power conversion products commercially available that are out-of-the-box compliant to the new Aerospace Technical Operating Report (TOR) requirements for space power systems. The new SVR Series of power products are suited for use in low Earth orbit (LEO), medium Earth orbit (MEO), geostationary orbit (GEO), deep space, and launch vehicle programs.

VPT’s SVR Series also features maximum levels of radiation hardening with a Total Ionizing Dose (TID) level of 100 krad(Si). VPT Adds 15 Amp Point of Load DC-DC Converter to Space Family of Power Conversion Products

VPT is the only manufacturer to now offer two point of load converters that are MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and Class K Qualified, 100K rad hard, and available off-the-shelf.

of a new point of load power converter designed and manufactured for use in the extreme environment of space. The new SVGA0515 Series point of load DC-DC converter is now qualified to MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and Class K by the Defense Logistics Agency.  The SVGA delivers up to 50W of output power, is radiation hardened to 100 krads (Si) including Enhanced Low Dose Rate Sensitivity (ELDRS), and is characterized to SEE of 85 MeV-cm2/mg.

The SVGA Series is the latest addition to VPT’s existing line of space DC-DC converters. The SVGA functions as a non-isolated,
regulated buck converter that steps down the voltage at the point of use in a distributed power system. From a single, small size, high current package, this module saves significant board space, weight, and cost for power systems headed for LEO, MEO, GEO, and deep space missions.

“To reduce weight and component cost, distributed power systems are relying more on smaller, less expensive point of load
converters used in conjunction with the larger, traditional, isolated DC-DC converters.
